The Alfa Romeo 4C is a compact, mid-engined, rear-wheel-drive sports car introduced in 2013, marking the Italian marque’s return to the world of lightweight, high-performance coupés. Designed by Alfa Romeo and assembled at Maserati’s factory in Modena, the 4C combines distinctive Italian styling with advanced engineering and a pure focus on driving pleasure.
At the heart of the 4C lies a carbon-fibre monocoque chassis, a construction technique inspired by motorsport and traditionally associated with much more expensive supercars. Combined with a lightweight body and aluminium subframes, this innovative structure gives the car an exceptional power-to-weight ratio and remarkable agility. Weighing approximately 895 kg dry, the 4C was conceived around a simple philosophy: reduce weight to maximise performance and driving sensations.
Power comes from Alfa Romeo’s 1,750 cc turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, featuring direct injection and an aluminium construction. Developing 240 hp and 350 Nm of torque, the engine is mounted transversely behind the two-seat passenger compartment and drives the rear wheels through a six-speed Alfa TCT dual-clutch transmission, operated by steering-wheel paddles. The result is impressive performance, with a top speed exceeding 250 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds.
The car’s design reflects the brand’s sporting heritage, with sculpted bodywork, muscular wheel arches, prominent air intakes and a compact silhouette inspired by racing cars. Its proportions, low stance and carefully shaped aerodynamic surfaces give the 4C an unmistakably Italian character. The cabin follows the same philosophy, prioritising the essentials of sports driving while incorporating carbon-fibre details and lightweight materials.
Introduced in France in April 2016, the Alfa Romeo 4C Limited Edition represents an especially exclusive interpretation of the model. Limited to just 50 examples for the French market, this coupé was developed to offer an even more distinctive appearance and a higher level of equipment. It features carbon-fibre mirror covers, bi-xenon headlights borrowed from the 4C Spider, and the Racing Pack, which includes a racing exhaust system, sports suspension, a sports steering wheel and staggered 18-inch front and 19-inch rear alloy wheels fitted with performance-oriented tyres.
The interior also benefits from a more refined finish, with leather sports seats, a leather-covered dashboard with contrasting stitching, and additional carbon-fibre details around the air vents and centre console. Available in four colours — white, Alfa Red, Prototipo Yellow and Pastel Black — the Limited Edition combines the lightweight engineering of the original 4C with a more sophisticated presentation and a particularly rare specification.
With its carbon-fibre monocoque, turbocharged engine and uncompromising focus on weight reduction, the Alfa Romeo 4C Limited Edition embodies the traditional Alfa Romeo approach to sports cars: compact dimensions, striking design, mechanical character and an engaging driving experience.
